One of my absolute favorite holiday symbols is the reindeer. I look forward each year to exploring new and creative ways to depict these beautiful and magical creatures. The origin story of Santa's flying reindeer is long and at times very complex. The eight named reindeer of Santa Claus first appeared in American literature in a famous poem whose author took inspiration from the flying goats of Thor's chariot in Norse mythology. Ostara is celebrated on the spring Equinox and is a holiday representing the fertility of spring and its symbols include eggs, rabbits, flowers, and seeds.
